Overview

In First Grade Library, students:

-learn about book care

-learn about the different sections of the library and learn about the types of books contained in each

-examine the difference between fiction and nonfiction text

-study award winning books, focusing on Caldecott and Theodor Geisel winners

-examine illustrations in picture books

-read fairy tales, and learn about the different literary elements in them

-be introduced to a wide variety of authors and genres

-read and write poetry

Students have the opportunity to checkout at the end of every library class and can borrow one book at a time. They can keep their books for up to two weeks and items can be renewed. First grade check out will begin the second week of school.  For additional checkout times, visit the hours page.
